Global Garden President, Barbara George, gifted this special piano to Arthur Imperatore and the NY Waterway Ferry Service to repay an earlier Kindness when Mr. Imperatore offered their Weehawken Terminal as a venue to host a Global Garden concert and auction to help raise money to rebuild New Orleans, post Katrina.
This baby grand has an intriguing story, from the family that donated it to Barbara George’s purchase of it at a charity auction. Global Garden commissioned AJ Ross Creative Media of Chester NY to produce a video to tell its rich altruistic history and documents the story from its humble start to its final trip to NYC. The story’s producer, Matt Dorcas of AJ Ross and photographer/filmmaker Jason Riley Hoss have been filming the full backstory, highlighting all the various contributions along the way.
The story will begin in the Village of Goshen, NY where the Fini family first donated this piano to the Goshen Art League for its signature public art and music promotion titled, The Keys of Goshen, a program that distributes painted pianos throughout the Village for full public access and enjoyment, which was the brainchild of Village Mayor, Kyle Roddey.
After a season of being enjoyed by residents and visitors, from far and wide, “Music of The Universe”, as titled by its artist and painter, Chris VanVooren, Vice chairman of the Goshen Art League and Vice Chairman of the Greenwood Lake Chamber of Commerce, the pianos are auctioned to help raise money for the next year’s program.
